Let's Talk Crypto, Grandma 🖖👵🏼
If you’re wondering how to explain your NFT (*ahem* Yat) obsession to your Grandma at Thanksgiving, you’re in the right place. And, if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, you can save this sage advice for any other gathering of friends, family, or - well - normies.
Hey, we’ve all been there. From digital wallets to Bored Apes, there’s a lot to talk about. Let’s get you through a meal without sounding like a crazy person who just escaped from a cult, shall we?
Ditch the Crazy Crypto Lingo
Everyone starts somewhere, and crypto lingo is not exactly translatable to normies. Put yourself in your Grandma’s slippers before tossing up a wild word salad. Okay? Now take a deep breath, and let’s begin. 🤪
Use the Internet as Your Friend
The internet (when used correctly) connects people when they can’t be in person. Grandma loves this because life wasn’t always like that. Remind her about your family video chats (you do call her, right?), easy online shopping, and anything else she might use. Well, anything else but Facebook, unless you tell her to ditch the old surveillance beast. 🤢
Look, Grandma. It’s Me!
People have found ways to make digital things - pictures, videos, and (now) emoji strings - one-of-a-kind. Sure, you can take a picture of a picture, but you can never re-create the original. And that is why everyone is so excited about Yats. For the first time, you can use a string of emojis to prove that you are one-of-a-kind on the internet. And Grandma will always think you are precious! 🥺
Insert Intermission and Pass the Bread
Grandma may be nodding her head at this point and pretending to understand. That’s a good sign. It means she wants to know more about what has you so excited. So, relish that moment and pass the bread to keep things easy and low-key. 🤗
At this point, you’ve won. See how we didn’t mention any fancy words to explain this stuff? If you do, Grandma will secretly turn off her hearing aid and you will deserve it. Okay, moving on…
And Now, the Reveal
You are a champ to make it this far. Remember your first time learning about Yats or NFTs or crypto? It’s a lot all at once. If a tryptophan coma hasn’t set in yet, show Grandma your Yat page. Or browse the world of NFTs together on OpenSea. Maybe Grandma will even want a Yat of her own! 🤯
We hope you make the most of your time together at Thanksgiving, or any other moment you share with your people. We are grateful for this incredible community - here’s to tasty turkey with all the sides and getting back to the, er, Internet grind when we return! 😼
Every once in a while, a piece of news is so historic, so groundbreaking, so exciting that we need to shout it from the rooftop.
Armin van Buuren and Steve Aoki dropped a new track using a Yat! And we couldn’t be more pumped about it, check out Music Means Love Forever at 🎵❤️♾
To honor this epic, historic occasion, we are rolling out a brand new theme for the Yat Visualizer: introducing Warp.
We had a paragraph here describing the beautiful swirls, the mesmerizing geometry, the enchanting motion...but then we decided to show you a gif of the new theme in action instead 👇
Infinite Revisualizations of Your Yat 🎨🖖♻️♾️
Do you have commitment issues when it comes to visualizing your Yat? You’re not alone. Previously you could only visualize your Yat once, but not anymore 🪄 You can now visualize your Yat as many times as you want, over and over again (as long as you don’t mint it as an NFT).
Give the new Warp Theme a try and show us your beautifully visualized Yats using #VisualizeMyYat on Twitter.
The Yat Labs Team is extremely excited to announce a new event we're calling Yat Genius. The event takes place on Discord and is available to all Yat creators.
Yat Genius is a competition where YOU compete with your most creative Yats! You will assemble a collection of your finest Yats that will not only wow the audience but beat the odds for a chance to be crowned YAT GENIUS. Prizes will be awarded weekly and the grand prize, an 0N1 Force NFT will be awarded to the season champion. Do you have what it takes to be dubbed The Yat Genius?

Woo-hoo, rejoice! The Yat Visualizer is now live 🙌 With the Yat Visualizer, Yat creators are able to customize the appearance of their Yat and express themselves in a stunningly beautiful, and revolutionary way.
“How do I customize my Yat?”
Simple, first you’ll select a theme from one of our three themes: particles, ribbons, or light field 👀
After you’ve chosen your theme, you get to dig into the real nitty-gritty of customizing your Yat. As you toggle through the styles, colors, speeds, shapes, variations, densities, and animations you’ll realize there are billions of possible combinations using the Yat Visualizer 😱
These billions of combinations mean you can make your visualized Yat as unique as you are!
“Wen NFT?”, a question we heard often from the community in recent months. It is with great pleasure that we can proudly reply: “Now” ⌛️ We are beyond excited to announce that Yat Creators can now mint any of their Yats as NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain 🔥🤝💯
To mint your Yat as an NFT, first you’ll need to use the Yat Visualizer to create a beautiful one-of-a-kind visualization of your Yat. After that you’ll be able to mint your Yat as an NFT from your Dashboard using MetaMask.
Can’t wait any longer to see your Yat in your wallet? Go to your Yat Dashboard, select the Yat you want to mint as an NFT, make sure it’s visualized, and then select “Mint this Yat” from the settings menu.
A grassroots movement is taking the Yativerse by storm. Brilliant Yat Creators, just like you, are developing and sharing detailed Yatalytics 📈or quantitative/qualitative analyses of pattern types, rarity stats, and more. Check out these stellar Yatalytics from leading Yatalysts within the community:
These are just two examples of many Yatalytics created and shared within the Yat Community. If you’d like to go deeper down the rabbit hole 🐰🕳 , check out @PuffYatty's mega-thread, a beautifully curated list of top-notch Yatalytics from the Yat Creators pioneering this movement!
Before you can become a master Yatalyst, you must first understand the origins of the Yativerse. The genesis of the Yativerse began with 441 emoji, also known as the Genesis Set. The Yativerse is ever-expanding and uncovered 3 new emoji in Gen Zero and 8 new emoji during the sunrise of Gen One, bringing the current set to 452 emoji. An additional 22 emoji will be revealed throughout the course of Gen One, bringing the Final Gen One Set to 474.
The number of emoji in the current set is a critical piece of information for all Yat Creators, as it is the foundation for any and all Yatalytics. The significance is perhaps best understood through real-world examples, which can be found in the final section of this post, Example Yatalytics ℹ️.
As explained above, pattern type, length, and the size of the current emoji set, are the primary drivers of scarcity (as measured by total supply). The most valuable Yats in the Yativerse are both scarce (low supply) and appealing to the community (high demand).
Below are some of the most popular patterns from Gen Zero, as determined by Yat Creators. All 444 possible combinations from Gen Zero were created within a matter of weeks.
To celebrate these coveted patterns, Yat Labs will be auctioning 18 magnificent Yats, each of which features a new Gen One emoji and one of the popular patterns shown above. Specifically, the auction lots contain two Adoptables, eight Eye Hearts, and eight Repeaters. Check out the lots here! y.at/🖖🌊⛵️!
The 18 Yats being auctioned are incredibly rare, and because they have just one degree of freedom, there are only as many combinations of these patterns as there are emoji in the current set.
In other words, each of the 18 auction lots are 1 of 452 of their respective pattern.
2 of 452 remain today
8 of 452 remain today
8 of 452 remain today
While calculating the total supply for any given pattern type is an excellent way to measure scarcity, master Yatalysts take their Yatalytics even further.
A great example is this tweet from @Yat_Sultan, where he explains that while there are 452 "OG" Adoptables [X👕👖👟], there are only 25 with a human face (27 if you include ☠️ and 😈).
🥺👕👖👟 = THE LAST OF 25 HUMAN ADOPTABLES
As you can see, the Yats in the upcoming auction are highly scarce, but there is one more layer to these Yats that must be considered, perhaps their most symbolic and unique trait.
To commemorate Yat Horizon and the launch of minting Yats as NFTs, these 18 Auction Lots will forever be marked with the “Horizon” Origin property. These 18 Yats will be the only Yats in the Yativerse that contain this unique property, securing their place in Yat History.
Yat Labs has carefully selected our emoji set to ensure backward compatibility and to avoid homoglyph attacks, a deception technique that uses similar-looking characters to create fake usernames, payment addresses, domains, and more.
Now, this doesn't mean we have to exclude these emoji from the Yativerse forever. In order to enable maximum self-expression without compromising security, Yat Labs has created a concept call peer emoji. A peer emoji is a similar-looking or sounding emoji to an existing primary emoji. By owning a Yat that contains an emoji with peer(s), you will eventually be able to choose how your Yat is represented.
In the near future, if someone enters a Yat with peer emoji in the URL bar, the browser will resolve to the associated primary emoji Yat. Try it out by clicking the examples below!
As this feature evolves, Yat Creators will have direct control over which peer emoji are displayed in many mediums and locations. In addition to peer emoji, we continue to work on skin tone modifiers so that Yat Creators can choose the desired skin tone for compatible emoji within their Yat.
The impact of peer emoji is profound as they add emoji variations to Yats containing them. Take for example the heart ❤️emoji, which has 10 similar-looking peer emoji. That is 11 emoji in one!
This means if you have a Yat - say ✨❤️✨- you will have 10 other ways to represent your Yat, one for each peer emoji of heart ❤️. When you include the primary emoji itself, this is 11 total emoji variations for just 1 heart ❤️. Now, what happens if you have more than one heart ❤️in your Yat?
THIS IS WHERE THINGS START TO GET CRAZY! 🤪
Every primary emoji with peers increases the variations of its Yat by a factor of the [number of peer emoji] + [the primary emoji]. How about we play this out with some ❤️ Repeaters?
As you can see, the advent of peer emoji is a gamechanger for any and all Yatalytics. A Yat containing primary emoji with peers has at least one, and possibly more, emoji variations.
As you can see, there are tons of different ways to analyze any given Yat, pattern, emoji, or attribute; all it takes is a little curiosity and some good ol’ mathematics.
We look forward to sharing additional Yatalytics with the Yat Community in the future. In the meantime, please be sure to tag your own #Yatalytics on Twitter!
❓How many 3-emoji Yat are possible today —> 92.35 Million
This pattern [XXX] contains three emoji slots and allows repeats, therefore each slot has 452 options (equal to the current emoji set). In order to calculate the total supply, one simply multiplies the number of options for each slot together as follows:
[XXX] = 452 * 452 * 452 = 452^3
❓How many Yats, of any length, are possible today → 18.91 Trillion
A Yat can be 1 to 5 emoji in length, which means the length is not fixed as it was in the previous example. In order to calculate the total number of permutations for a pattern with multiple lengths, one simply calculates the permutations for each individual length (x, xx, xxx, xxxx, xxxxx) and sums them together as follows:
[XXXXX] = (452^1)+(452^2)+(452^3)+(452^4)+(452^5)
❓How many 3-emoji bookends are possible today → 203,852 Yats
This pattern [ABA] is a bit trickier because the number of options per slot varies. The 1st slot has all 452 options, equal to the current emoji set. The 2nd slot has 1 less option, 451, as it cannot match the first selection. The 3rd slot has just 1 option, as it must match the first. In order to calculate the permutations for this pattern, one simply multiplies the options for each slot as follows:
[ABA] = 452 * 451 * 1
Despite being born from the chaos of the eternal hurricane that surrounds it, the Cloud Metropolis is a beacon of hope for all. And yet its gates have remained shuttered for nearly a century. Only those few with precious invitations bestowed by the Hippogriff himself have had the privilege of entering the flying city to create the Yats of their dreams.
But that all changes on Friday, July 30th at 7:00PM EDT.
Generation Zero will conclude, Generation One will rise, and the gates to the Cloud Metropolis will open for all to enter. To celebrate the occasion and welcome us all, the Hippogriff is throwing an epic virtual party: Yat Horizon.
Everyone in the Yat community and beyond is invited to this once in a generation gala event. As you know by now, the Hippogriff is wildly uncoordinated. Watching a Hippogriff dance is like watching a duck-billed platypus do...well, basically anything. And yet the Hippogriff insists on wearing his best dance shoes for Yat Horizon, and you should, too.
Yats will be minted, new emoji will drop, and fun will be had by all. This is something you won’t want to miss, and we cannot wait to see you there.
Join us on Thursday, July 29th at 4:00PM EDT for a Yat Horizon special-edition AMA on Twitter Spaces with the Yat Labs team and some very special guests.
On Friday, July 30th at 7:00PM EDT, The Hippogriff (Naveen and fluffypony) will attempt a laser flip. Wait. Can a pony eagle hybrid even skateboard? We will all find out. Hopefully no one gets hurt. They may also make some announcements.. from an ambulance.
At 7:10PM EDT, Yat Horizon will begin as we celebrate the sunset of Generation Zero and welcome the sunrise of Generation One with a very special performance by the legendary DJ and producer: A‑Trak.
Prepare yourself for an onslaught of sake bombs because things are going to get wild in the Cloud Metropolis. It's the birth of a new Generation and everyone is hyped.
In the streets and alleys of the Cloud Metropolis, the rumor mill is swirling like the hurricane that surrounds the city. The word is that the iconic artist and innovator 3LAU 🎧🎧🎧 will be celebrating with us and performing an epic set.
We can only impose on the Hippogriff’s goodwill for so long. At some point, we’ve got to leave or risk another hundred-year lockdown of the Metropolis. Unfortunately that time is now. Thank you for joining us!
The Yat Labs team will also be available to answer any and all questions on Discord – so don’t be shy.
Limited Edition Gen Zero Merch
A limited run for a limitless community.
We are beyond thrilled to announce our first-ever drop of Gen Zero Merch. Straight from the closet of the Hippogriff, this ultra-limited run of iconic Gen Zero apparel celebrates the milestones of the Yativerse, the coveted artifacts of the Cloud Metropolis, and most importantly, the energy and dedication of our remarkable Yat community.
Rhythm Score Update
Every Yat created is a part of a Generation, which indicates the time period in which it was created. It’s a permanent element that will never change so long as your Yat shall live (forever!).
Every single Yat created up until today has a special designation of Generation Zero. And now that we’ve launched publicly, any new Yats created in the near future will be a part of Generation One. With the sunset of Generation Zero and the sunrise of Generation One, another significant evolution will occur: the evolution of Rhythm Score.
Rhythm Score (RS) is a scoring system we’ve developed to help the Yat Creator community better understand the rarity of Yats. The RS is determined primarily by a Yat’s length. Other factors include the popularity of the emojis used in the Yat and the Yat’s pattern (e.g. repeating emojis, “bookend” emojis, etc.).
With the transition to a new Generation, the RS scoring system is also undergoing an evolution. The core elements of RS remain unchanged. However, one underlying dataset has evolved since the launch of Yat in February of 2021: the popularity of emojis. Emojis are a cultural phenomenon, and some emojis take on new meaning over time. As a result, some Yats created in Generation One will have a higher RS than they would have had in Gen Zero, and some will have a lower RS.
Another significant change we want to share is an evolution to the price of Yats. Previously, the price of a Yat was tied directly to its RS. Going forward, we are implementing a more dynamic pricing model. As a result, some Generation One Yats may be more expensive than they would have been in Generation Zero, and some will be less so. However, the vast majority of Yats will continue to be $4 to own forever. Our goal is to make Yat as accessible as possible for all while also acknowledging that some Yats are in far higher demand than others.
Yat is community-driven. We only exist because of you, our Yat Creator community. We want to thank everyone in the Yat community who has been on this journey with us so far and all of the new Yat Creators who are joining our community in Generation One. We are very honored you are here with us, and we cannot wait to see the beautiful Yats you create.
- The Yat Labs Team
Opera Browser for Android and iOS is now live with native Yat support in the URL bar. This means your Yats are now real URLs!
No “y.at/,” no “www,” no “.com,” and no “https://” required. Simply drop your Yat emojis into the URL bar, hit Enter, and voila! 👇
Opera has 380 million users (!!) and now a huge percentage of them can simply enter Yat emojis into the URL bar to visit a Yat Page, or be redirected anywhere a Yat Creator chooses to send them.
Somewhere within the hurricane walls of the Cloud Metropolis floats Cloud 35, a magical venue that hosts our honored Celestial Rose holders for a once-in-a-generation celebration. This gathering of the chosen few will commence on Friday, May 28th, 2021 at 6:45PM EDT and stream virtually here on this site for all to witness.
On Friday, April 2nd at 5:45 PM EDT, an event nearly as rare as a visit by Halley's Comet will occur: Yat 💯 Destiny, the first ever Yat auction. At this extraordinary event, 18 of the most iconic and valuable Generation Zero Yats that will ever exist will be auctioned off to holders of magical Prism Keys.
Everyone in the Yat community and beyond is invited to join us for this historic event. But only those who hold Prism Keys at the time of the event will be able to bid on these very special Yats.
Prism Keys are made of the legendary Hippogriff's feathers and fur and therefore are truly wondrous artifacts. When a holder chooses to unseal their Prism Key after the 5th April sunrise, it will morph into two very special Generation Zero Yats valued far beyond the price paid for the Prism Key itself.
Only 500 Prism Keys will ever exist for this very special event.

It is so much fun connecting with all of you about emojis, and Yat. Thank you for being on this journey with us! One of the cool things about being a part of the Yat community is finding out about new Yat features FIRST.
Today we we are so pleased to announce that you, our dedicated early community, now have a chance to buy your very own Generation Zero Yats. Below you can learn more about Gen Zero, Rhythm Score, and how to skip the waitlist and buy your Yat.
Every Yat is one-of-a-kind. When you own a Yat, it’s yours - forever -. Every Yat also has two permanent, and unique scoring elements that make it special. Its Generation and its Rhythm Score.
A Yat’s Generation indicates the time period in which it was created. Generation starts with Zero. Every Yat created before the public launch of Yat will be a Generation Zero Yat. Every Yat created after the public launch will be a Generation One, and on each anniversary of our launch, the Generation number will increment.
Generation is important because it enables everyone in the Yat community to know how long a Yat has existed. And it's a way to celebrate you, our earliest users and community members.
Now let's talk about Rhythm Score. The Rhythm Score of a Yat is a number between 1 and 100 that is determined by three key factors: length, popularity, and pattern. The higher the Rhythm Score, the more rare a Yat is, and the more in demand it may be. The price of a Yat is tied to its Rhythm Score. Yats are pay once, and own forever.
The exact formula for Rhythm Score is a secret, but to help you understand how scoring works, lets break down the score for a sample Yat.
The Rhythm Score for this Yat is 86. Its short (only 3 characters), and consists of two super popular emojis, and one popular emoji. And finally, it has the same emoji twice giving it a beautiful pattern. These factors result in an extraordinary Rhythm Score.
Here are some examples of other Yats and their Rhythm Score.
